It's a chick lit cover, and LONDON FALLING is not chick lit. It's romance. Don't get me wrong, I love a good chick lit novel. My first novel (which shall never see the light of day without a major--and I mean major--rewriting) is a chick lit novel. Some of my favorite authors write in the chick lit genre.
But chick lit is different than romance. Chick lit is really all about the heroine's journey--and there may or may not be a romance involved. Romance is all about the relationship and how both characters evolve and change over the course of the novel to make the romance work.
As more and more chick lit novels were published, they all seemed to be using cartoon-like images for their covers, rather than photographs. And the cover that I chose to set me apart from other romance covers did just that--and set me all the way in another category!
So, I went back to the drawing board, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the result! Natasha Brown did the new cover art and she was amazing to work with. Here is the beautiful cover Natasha designed for me:
